Rather works in ink, without
preliminary drawings and usually without even a definitive idea in mind. Rather, he allows the unfolding design tell him what
he is drawing. Feeling, instead of intent, guides his hand. He is always surprised by what develops, and the work is always
open to interpretation, although he does title his finished drawings.
For years, his art was nothing more than a cathartic pastime, but as friends began to exclaim over and request various pieces,
Rather began to branch out. As a result, his pieces have gradually received a wider viewing, eliciting comment and interest,
appearing in various publications and even winning awards.
He invites his viewers
to employ their own perspectives and find their own interpretations of his work. His fondest wish is for the viewer to find
as much enjoyment in the viewing as he finds in the drawing.

University of North Texas and works as a design engineer. He is married to bestselling romance author Arlene James and
lives in the greater DFW Metroplex area.
